2023 KRILA-CLAIR the 14th Korea-Japan Joint Seminar

The Korea Research Institute for Local Administration (KRILA) held the 14th Korea-Japan Joint Seminar on the theme of "Regional Revitalization Using Local Resources" at 1:30 p.m. on September 26 (Tue) in the assembly room of the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations(CLAIR).

 

At the opening ceremony, Kim Il-jae, president of the Korea Research Institute for Local Administration (KRILA), Kiyoshi Koike, director of the Japan Local Government Internationalization Association, gave a welcome speech, Vice Minister of Public Administration and Security Koo Man-seop and Koichi Aiboshi, Ambassador to Japan, delivered a congratulatory speech, and delivered keynote speeches by heads of local governments representing Korea and Japan.

 

First, Chuncheon City Mayor Yuk Dong-han began his speech under the theme of "Preparing a Regional-led Response Foundation to Overcome the Population Crisis in the Age of Local Extinction," followed by Takahisa Ikeda, Mayor of Miyako Union City in Japan, who gave a lecture on "Local Government Management that Leads Results - Home Taxation is an Important Policy for Local Creation."

 

The theme presentation session was chaired by Yoo Min-bong, secretary-general of the Council of Governors Association of the Republic of Korea, and was presented by one expert each from Korea and Japan.

Hirotaka Negishi, a professor of local resource creation at Miyazaki University, presented "Michinoekiwa Local Creation-Evolution Michinoeki, its role and possibility-," and Ko Kyung-hoon, head of the Local Government Research Center at the Korea Research Institute for Local Administration (KRILA), presented "How to Revitalize Village Pension."

 

Subsequently, related experts, such as public officials and scholars from both countries, discussed the contents of the presentation and exchanged opinions on the preparation of measures to revitalize the region between Korea and Japan.
