This study empirically analyzed whether the degree of specialization in High-technological industries in different regions, with assuming the existence of variation in the specialization level of High-technological industry between non-capital regions and the capital region, affects the influx of young population. The analysis was divided into the capital region and non-capital region areas to examine the effectiveness of the influx of young population.
The analysis results revealed that in the capital region, as the regional specialization in High-technological industry circumstances increased, the net influx of young population was increased. However, in the non-capital region, the degree of specialization in the High-technological industry circumstances did not significantly affect the influx of young population through empirical analysis. This study also found that in regions with a high concentration of businesses and a more manufacturing job opportunities as well as high income level, there is an increased influx of the young population. This suggests that job opportunities are a more important factor than a specialized environment in High-technological industries for young population influx. Interestingly, this study also revealed that the regional cultural circumstances, measured by the total number of cultural and performing arts events in the region, did not significantly affect the influx of young population in non-capital regions.
This study has shown that variation in the specialization level of High-technological industry between the capital and non-capital regions can be influences levels of influx of young population. These findings can be utilized as valuable evidences in the process of promoting the establishment of High-technological industry.
